- Young football fans in Montgomery can sign up for a new kind of summer camp this year. S.A.F.E Youth Camp Coordinators will be hosting its inaugural Alabama/Auburn NFL Alumni Athletic Youth Camp, taking place in the city during the second week of June. The three-day camp will focus on not just football, but education on topics like crime prevention and bullying. Several Montgomery native NFL players are scheduled to return to their old stomping grounds to mentor the campers. (Alabama News Network)
- On Monday, the Montgomery Police Department swore in its new chief of police. Chief Darryl Albert was sworn in at the city's municipal courthouse, supported by his family and friends as well as MPD officers. The new chief has said his top priorities are public safety and bringing "21st-century policing" to Montgomery. (Alabama News Network)
- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has shared further details on the involvement of an off-duty deputy in Friday's deadly shooting on Lower Wetumpka Road. According to Sheriff Derrick Cunningham, the situation began as a domestic violence incident between the deputy's mother and father. The deputy was shot five times and injured, at which time he returned fire and killed his father in the process. As of Monday morning, the Montgomery Police Department is probing the shooting as a death investigation. (WSFA 12)
