🌱 Shooter Arrested + Campaign Honoring Black History Month

Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:

  1. The Montgomery Police Department has charged a man with shooting into a vehicle with people inside of it. According to the Department, Alze' Williams, 25, discharged a firearm into the occupied vehicle on Jan. 22 in the area of Lower Wetumpka Road and Pauline Street. Williams was apprehended by a U.S. Marshal's task force and was taken to a detention facility on $30,000 bail. (WSFA12 News)
  2. In honor of Black History Month, Montgomery announced the launch of a new tourism campaign. The campaign will guide visitors throughout the city and showcase the history that leads to the civil rights movement. In conjunction with the campaign, sidewalk stickers with quotes from famous civil rights activists have been distributed throughout the city. (WSFA12 News)
  3. The City of Montgomery announced a new contest meant to celebrate and honor the 109th anniversary of Rosa Park's birthday. Students are asked to create a birthday card for Parks featuring a message they would like to share with her if she were still with us. The contest is open to kindergarten through 12th grade students with digital entries allowed. (Alabama News Network)
