🌱Shooting On Eastern Boulevard + Second Grader Gifted Prosthesis

Here are the top stories in Montgomery today:

  1. The Montgomery Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place on Dec. 18 at 7:44 p.m. When police arrived at the 3400 block of Summerhill Drive, they found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Investigators were able to determine that the shooting took place in the 2700 block of Eastern Boulevard. (Alabama News Network)
  2. A second-grader in Montgomery is being gifted a prosthetic limb thanks to physical education teachers and others who worked together to help him. Smart Amuro, seven years old, has a limb difference known as a proximal focal femoral deficiency, or PFFT. He will receive this prosthetic device sometime next year from the Alabama Artificial Limb & Orthopedic Service in Montgomery. (WSFA 12)
  3. The Montgomery Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a woman dead. On Thursday, at about 11:55 a.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Eastern Boulevard where they found the passenger of one of the cars, 21-year-old Amari Hunter, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The drivers of both cars received non-life-threatening injuries. (Alabama News Network)
  4. Members of the Alabama State Trooper Association (ASTA) and Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) met outside Baptist Medical Center East, in Montgomery, on Thursday, Dec. 16, to participate in ASTA's Trooper Teddy Bear Delivery. ASTA provides Trooper Teddy Bears to be gifted to children who have witnessed or been involved in a traumatic event. During this time of year, they distribute the bears to little ones at hospital facilities across the state who may have to spend the holidays there instead of at home. (AL Bugle)
