Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:

  1. The Montgomery Police Department has apprehended a suspect in the murder of 3-year-old Ja'Seyon Green. Jerome William Pettiway, 23, has been charged with capital murder of a child, capital murder of a person in a vehicle from outside the vehicle, and capital murder of a person outside a vehicle from the vehicle in the shooting that occurred on Feb. 11, 2022. U.S. Marshalls apprehended Pettiway after he was identified. (WSFA12 News)
  2. The Montgomery Humane Society received $1,050 from AirNow Home Services and Alabama News Network. The donation is part of its 3 Degree Guarantee program. According to the animal shelter, the money will be used to spay and neuter pets which will lower the stray animal population across Alabama. (Alabama News Network)
  3. Alabama residents traveled to Montgomery on Thursday to demand stricter regulations from state legislators on sludge spraying. The Alabama Department of Environmental Management held a public hearing on Thursday morning while they consider possible rule changes. The travelers claim that the sludge causes harm to human health and to the environment. (CBS42)
