Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:

  1. As Alabama lawmakers are returning to Montgomery to begin the 2022 legislative session, upcoming elections and rising coronavirus cases will be major factors in upcoming sessions. One of the major decisions that legislators will have to make will be how to use the state's remaining pandemic relief funds. This topic is so important, that many are discussing with Governor Kay Ivey about having a separate session dedicated solely to the pandemic relief funds. (Alabama News Network)
  2. Two tornadoes touched down in Southern Alabama on Sunday, just south of Montgomery. According to the National Weather Service, both tornadoes were rated as EF-O. The first touched down in Conecuh County, and the second tornado took place in Butler County. Both tornadoes produced minor damage, according to NWS. (WSFA)
  3. After the fatal shooting Sunday at Bama Lanes, the Montgomery County district attorney has chosen to increase the bail for the suspect. On Monday, District Attorney Daryl Bailey asked the court in a motion to increase Tory Johnson's bail to $2 million.
