🌱 Suspect Charged In Adrian Lane Shooting + New P-EBT Benefits

Here are the top stories in Montgomery today:
- Montgomery police have charged Reginald Dwan Morrell with shooting into a vehicle with two people inside. According to the arrest affidavit, the shooting happened on Nov. 11 at the intersection of Adrian Lane and Thomas Avenue. Morrell was taken into custody on Tuesday and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where he was placed under a $30,000 bond. (WSFA 12)
- Additional Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits are rolling out this week to the families of Alabama children who participate in the National School Lunch Program, which provides free and reduced-price meals at school. The new benefits cover the summer months retroactively since new applications were being processed by local schools and the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) at the time. If you received P-EBT benefits for the 2020-21 school year, you can access the new funds on existing EBT cards. New participants will receive cards in the mail within 20 days. (FOX 10)
- A Montgomery man has been sentenced to 92 months in federal prison for his part in four bank robberies in central and south Alabama throughout 2019. (Montgomery Advertiser)
- After seven years in his position, Alabama Corrections Commissioner Jeff Dunn will step down from his role at the end of the month. Dunn will be succeeded by John Hamm, the deputy secretary of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. (Montgomery Advertiser)
- Days after Tim James announced his run against current Alabama Governor Kay Ivey in the 2022 Republican gubernatorial primaries, Lynda Blanchard, the former ambassador to Slovenia under the Trump Administration, posted on Twitter that she will be joining the race, too. (WTVM)
