Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:

  1. One person is dead and a person of interest has been taken into custody following a shooting on Thursday. Montgomery Police responded to a call at the 1300 block of Holt Street. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene. (WSFA 12)
  2. Montgomery Police have identified the suspect who was taken into custody after stealing a law enforcement vehicle and leading them on a car chase. Brandon Bazzell, 36, has been charged with first and second-degree theft and third degree escape. Bazzell had been detained earlier and then was able to steal the squad car. (WSFA 12)
  3. AirNow Home Services and Alabama News Network presented a $1,350 check to Butterfly Bridge, a non-profit organization that assists law enforcement and Alabama Human Resources with any investigation they have involving children. (Alabama News Network)
  4. Residents at Angels for the Elderly assisted living facility hold a butterfly release to remember those who died in the past year at the facility in Montgomery. (Montgomery Advertiser)
  5. The U.S. Attorney's Office has announced federal charges against a woman accused of committing arson at the historic First Baptist Church Montgomery on Sept. 30. (WTVY)
