🌱 Truck Wreck On I-85 + Police Looking For Vehicle In Shooting

Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:
- A truck wreck involving an 18-wheeler took place at 7 a.m. around mile marker 21 on Interstate 85 southbound in Macon County. Traffic is being re-routed off of the interstate and onto US Highway 80. There has been no update on the driver's condition or what caused the crash. (Alabama News Network)
- Police are searching for a vehicle that could be linked to the shooting of a Montgomery man last week. Police responded at 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22 on Darien Drive where a 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A silver sedan with a dark hood was captured on video leaving the scene after the shots were fired. (AL.com)
- The city of Montgomery is not doing Christmas tree recycling this year due to the high volume of trash pickups. Trees will be picked up by sanitation department crews and brought to a landfill. Normally, the trees are mulched or submerged in state-owned lakes to improve fish habitat. (Montgomery Advertiser)
- Holt Street Missionary Baptist Church will host a celebration on New Year's Day to mark 156 years since Montgomery recognized the Emancipation Proclamation. The church was an integral part of the Montgomery Bus Boycott and Civil Rights Movement. The program will start at 10 a.m. (Montgomery Advertiser)
