Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:
- An Alabama teen was taken into custody by police Thursday after a gun was found at a high school in Montgomery. A faculty member at Lee High School alerted security employees after getting a tip Thursday that the student might have a weapon. Security personnel did a search and found the gun. A day earlier, on Wednesday, Goodwyn Middle School in Montgomery was placed on lockdown after an anonymous tipster reported a possible weapon at the school. A student at the school was taken into custody after a gun was found outside on school property. (AL.com)
- Thursday was a big day in Montgomery as living Alabamians were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments and service. Hundreds gathered at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery as the Alabama Academy of Honor welcomed members into the classes of 2020 and 2021. Established in 1965, the academy bestows honor and recognition upon living Alabamians for their outstanding accomplishments and service to the state and the nation. Membership is limited to 100 distinguished Alabamians and all of Alabama's living governors. (WSFA)
