Mountain Brook Looks Into Two Infrastructure Projects
The Mountain Brook City Council reviewed two big infrastructure projects at its first council meeting of the year.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The Mountain Brook City Council's first meeting of 2018 involved a look at two large infrastructure projects on the horizon. The council discussed a project involving the closure of Canterbury Road closure, to determine if roundabouts will be feasible in Mountain Brook Village, and the intersection of Mountain Brook Parkway and Cahaba Road.
According to a report from Village Living, a representative from Sain Associates addressed the council and said the tests conducted before and after the holidays showed that the modifications did reduce traffic at Canurbury Road to make way for the proposed roundabout.
The Mountain Brook Parkway project study found the following needed to be done:

- Fill in the gap in the double yellow line on Mountain Brook Parkway where the old crosswalk was located.
- Remove the existing pedestrian warning sign on westbound Mountain Brook Parkway where the old crosswalk was located.
- Replace the missing top rail of the split rail fence blocking the old walking trail.
- Implement the landscaping plan designed by Nimrod Long and Associates that was approved at a previous council meeting.
- Repaint the existing crosswalk crossing the north side of Cahaba Road.
- Provide lighting at the intersection sufficient for 2.2 foot-candles.
