Mountain Brook Awaits State Guidelines For Opening Schools
Guidelines for reopening schools were expected from the state board June 19, but Mountain Brook school officials are still waiting.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — School officials from Mountain Brook were expecting word Friday from the state in regard to guidelines for reopening schools for the coming school year, but will have to wait longer before putting a plan in place.
A statement from Mountain Brook City Schools Monday said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Eric Mackey recently stated the plan will not be released until at least June 26, pending approval from the Alabama Department of Public Health.
"The date was delayed yesterday to allow time for Dr. Mackey to share the plan with school superintendents and consider their input before completing the final draft," the school system announced in a release. "MBS will form its reopening plans based on the report and input from the Jefferson County Department of Health. As previously expressed, MBS recognizes the best possible scenario is for students to be back in school buildings with their teachers and classmates in August. Further updates will be shared in the coming weeks."
