• Stingy defense leads Mountain Brook past Oxford (al.com) — Mountain Brook fans just saw their Spartans grind out a 10-3 home win over Oxford, powered by a dominant pass rush that racked up six sacks and a late goal-line stand. Despite losing a key running back early and struggling on offense, the team found a deep-shot touchdown and now turns its focus to hosting Ramsay in another big matchup next week. 
• Authorities Continue Search Efforts for Missing Elmore County Man (abc3340.com) — Mountain Brook residents should know their fire department has deployed a specialized AMAS team to help Elmore County authorities search for missing Wetumpka man William Austin Mathews. Three Mountain Brook firefighters joined crews from Vestavia Hills, Homewood and Hoover in wide-area search efforts, while investigators continue following leads and ask anyone with information to contact the Elmore County Sheriff's Office or CrimeStoppers.
• Author Talk: Bonnie Garmus — Peck & Peck (popville.com) — Mountain Brook book lovers may be especially interested that bestselling novelist Patti Callahan Henry, who now writes full time in town, will be in conversation with Bonnie Garmus about Garmus's new novel Peck & Peck.
