• ALDOT opens widened US 280 from Shades Creek Parkway to I-459 (villagelivingonline.com) — Mountain Brook drivers now have a newly widened stretch of U.S. 280 between Shades Creek Parkway and I-459, adding a fourth lane each way to ease heavy traffic. ALDOT is still finishing bridge, resurfacing, and signage upgrades, but most remaining work should wrap by early October, further smoothing commutes through this busy corridor.
