Spartans Head To Final Four For 6th Time In 7 Years

With a 57-36 win over Vestavia Hills Tuesday, Mountain Brook is headed back to the Final Four in Birmingham.

HANCEVILLE, AL - For the third straight year and the sixth time in the last seven seasons, Mountain Brook's basketball team is headed to the Final Four of the AHSAA basketball tournament. The Spartans beat Vestavia Hills 57-36 Tuesday in Tom Drake Coliseum at Wallace State to punch their card to the BJCC.

Mountain Brook improved its record this season to 29-3, and the top-ranked Spartans will move on to play Lee-Montgomery on Thursday, Feb. 28, at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena in the state semifinals.

The Spartans all-everything forward Trendom Watford paced the team with 21 points and nine rebounds. Lior Berman and Colby Jones each finished the game with 11 points.

The Spartans have been the top-ranked team in Alabama all season, having won the previous two state championships, but are also ranked in the top 5 nationally.
