Spartans Ranked In 2019 Preseason Top 10

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Mountain Brook Spartans will begin the 2019 football season ranked in the top 10 of the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll. The ASWA poll, released Monday, has the Spartans ranked No. 7.

Mountain Brook climbed as high as No. 6 in the poll last season, and advanced to the second round of the Class 7A playoffs last fall. The Spartans were 9-3 last season but will have to replace 36 departing seniors from last year's roster.

Mountain Brook opens the season August 23 against Northridge High School of Tuscaloosa, and follows that with another home game against Center Point. These are non-region games, which will prepare the Spartans for its first regional game against Tuscaloosa County - also at home.
