2. ALDOT Sets Detour Ahead Of New ICW Bridge Traffic Shift (obawebsite.com) — If you’re driving to Orange Beach between May 10–13, expect a major detour as ALDOT shifts traffic onto the new Intracoastal Waterway Bridge and reroutes southbound Beach Express drivers to SR-59. Access to Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and Fort Morgan will remain open via signed detours, but you’ll want to allow extra time and watch for new signals and traffic patterns.

3. Who's heating up: Gulf Shores' Tereza Mojs and Orange Beach softball (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Orange Beach softball fans have plenty to cheer about as the Makos ride a dominant 8-0 stretch into hosting the Class 4A Area 1 tournament at home starting May 1. With perfect games from pitchers Kenlie Williams and MK McMullan and a 37-1 record, they’re chasing another national title while Gulf Shores tennis star Tereza Mojs adds to the island’s sports buzz.

4. Gulf Coast Waters Home To Dolphins, Not Porpoises (obawebsite.com) — If you’ve spotted “porpoises” off Orange Beach lately, you were actually seeing dolphins, according to NOAA Fisheries. A new explainer clarifies that porpoises don’t inhabit our warm Gulf waters, and offers easy tips to tell these protected marine mammals apart while reminding boaters and beachgoers to keep a safe distance.

GST Cervantes' International Auditors Conference Reinforces Financial Stewardship, Transparency, and Compliance (goiam.org) — Orange Beach recently hosted an international auditors conference for the IAM union, bringing financial watchdogs from across the U.S. and Canada to town. While the sessions centered on safeguarding union members’ dues and improving transparency, the gathering also highlighted Orange Beach as a meeting spot for major labor-focused events.
