DUI Arrest In Perdido Pass Bridge Accident (gulfshoresnews.com) — A serious DUI-related crash on Orange Beach’s Perdido Pass Bridge Sunday afternoon left multiple people injured and briefly closed the busy span. One vehicle nearly went over the side before a chain-link fence stopped it, and at least two patients were hospitalized by air and ground. Police say one person was arrested on a DUI charge as the investigation continues.
   

2. Orange Beach Warns About Misuse Of Pickleball Courts (obawebsite.com) — Orange Beach officials are warning residents and visitors to keep e-bikes, e-scooters, and other motorized devices off the city’s new pickleball and tennis courts after recent damage. Police will step up evening patrols, and the city is asking parents and bystanders to help protect the delicate court surfaces by speaking up or calling the non-emergency line if they see misuse.
   

3. Alabama School Resource Officers Gather in Orange Beach for Annual Training (obawebsite.com) — School resource officers from across Alabama are in Orange Beach this week for the TAASRO Safe Schools Conference at the Event Center, hosted by the local police department. The gathering highlights school safety training statewide while celebrating Orange Beach Middle and High School’s repeat win of the Alabama Attorney General’s Safe Schools Award, underscoring strong collaboration between city schools and police.
   

4. Massive seaweed bloom expected to worsen along Gulf Coast beaches this summer (wwltv.com) — Orange Beach beaches are already seeing piles of sargassum seaweed, and researchers warn the bloom could grow to record levels along the Gulf Coast this summer. While the floating mats support marine life offshore, they can smell, hinder swimming, and hurt tourism when they rot onshore. Scientists are tracking the bloom by satellite to help communities prepare.
