• Brush fire at Alabama park remains 250 acres, 50% contained (wkrg.com) — A 250-acre brush fire in Oak Mountain State Park near Pelham is about 50% contained and fully surrounded by fire breaks, and officials say nearby homes, including along Highway 11 and in Oak Forest, are currently safe. Firefighters are battling tough terrain and drought while warning residents to expect smoke for several days as they continue burnout operations and hope for help from weekend rain.
   

• Pelham city manager put on leave amid probe into allegations from suspended police chief (al.com) — Pelham's city manager, Gretchen DiFante, has been placed on paid administrative leave while an independent investigator reviews a formal complaint from suspended Police Chief Ed Delmore. Both officials remain on leave as the city council pursues the probe, stressing that the move is not a finding of wrongdoing but a step to fairly examine Delmore's allegations.
   

• Pelham residents challenge $100 tickets over driveway parkin... (shelbycountyreporter.com) — Pelham residents in the Stonehaven subdivision are pushing city leaders to rethink how they enforce the sidewalk parking ban after multiple $100 tickets for vehicles that can't fit in short driveways. Neighbors say they were cited without warning, are now parking in their yards to comply, and worry both the fines and the messy look are hurting household budgets and property values.
