• 9 Breathtaking Alabama Hiking Trails With a View (myfamilytravels.com) — One of the nine highlighted Alabama hikes with big views is the Kings Chair Loop at Oak Mountain State Park, starting right here in Pelham at 200 Terrace Drive. The guide explains difficulty, scenery, and safety tips for that trail and eight other scenic routes across the state, from canyon overlooks to waterfall walks. 
• UAB and APSTI partner to launch the Pathways to Public Service internship program (uab.edu) — A UAB student from Gardendale is spending her summer interning at the Alabama Wildlife Center in Pelham helping with bird intake records, summer camp, and outreach materials. The new Pathways to Public Service program places students with local nonprofits, including Pelham's wildlife center and a Birmingham-area Boys and Girls Club.
• Multiple high school football games delayed due to weather (wbrc.com) — Pelham High School's season opener against Oak Mountain was pushed into a lightning delay Friday night, with kickoff reset to about 8:35 p.m. Several other high school games around central Alabama were also delayed, and fans were asked to clear stands in some locations.
