The log also notes extra patrols around Pelham Park Boulevard and Safe Street Act traffic stops, giving residents a clear snapshot of public safety issues across town in early August. 
• Pelham drops to 0-2 in region after Homewood scores 42 unans... (shelbycountyreporter.com) — Pelham High's football team fell 42-7 to Homewood, dropping to 0-2 in Class 5A, Region 4 and putting major pressure on next week's region showdown at Chelsea. Despite solid yardage from several Pelham backs, missed defensive opportunities and turnovers proved costly, and coach Newton says cleaning up mistakes is now an urgent priority.
• Judge to decide whether Alabama Power can begin work on Shelby County man's property (wvtm13.com) — A Shelby County judge will soon decide if Alabama Power can start building a major transmission line across a Calera landowner's property, part of the 74‑mile Autaugaville–East Pelham project. The company says the line is needed to strengthen the grid between Montgomery and Birmingham, while the owner argues it would slice up his land, threaten privacy, and should be halted during his appeal.
