Sex Offender Caught By Shelby County Sheriff's Office
A sex offender who had registered at a fraudulent address has been locayed and arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
SHELBY COUNTY, AL - The search for sex offender Rick John Vega is over. Reports from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office say Vega has been located and is in custody. Details surrounding his capture have not been released.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested Vega, 44, on May 27 and charged him with one count of failure to follow sex offender reporting guidelines and one count of probation violation. Vega pleaded guilty in 2015 to sexual abuse involving an underage victim.
The search for Vega began this week after authorities checked on his listed address in Montevallo and found that he was not living there.
