📰 News we're reading
• Judge rules former Sylacauga city clerk was wrongfully terminated, orders mediation (abc3340.com) — A recent court ruling found former Sylacauga City Clerk/Treasurer Alexandra Lambert was wrongfully terminated because only the City Council, not the mayor, had authority to remove her from the post. While she won’t be reinstated since her term has expired, the judge ordered the city into mediation, with Sylacauga covering the mediator’s costs, to work out a resolution.

• Sylacauga considers solution to feral dog problem along Hwy. 280 (cbs42.com) — Sylacauga officials are weighing a humane plan to remove growing packs of feral dogs from the dangerous Hwy. 280 corridor, with help from the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. The proposal would relocate and trap the dogs using feeding stations, and city leaders have ruled out earlier suggestions of euthanizing them while they await a formal written plan.

• Talladega County 4-H brings farm-to-classroom egg-hatching experience to Comer Elementary students (sylacauganews.com) — Students at B.B. Comer Memorial Elementary in Sylacauga wrapped up the year by hatching chicks in their classrooms, thanks to a Talladega County 4-H partnership. Fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-graders shared responsibilities from choosing eggs to studying incubation, giving local kids a free, hands-on lesson in science and agriculture.
