📰 News we're reading

• September 21-27, 2026 (thecoosacountynews.com) — Coosa County’s weekly sheriff’s report includes the arrest of a Talladega resident, Rose Marie Harrison Josey, on a failure-to-appear charge, along with her transfer to the county jail. The log also details numerous calls for service in nearby communities, from disabled motorists and animal complaints to domestic disputes and theft reports, giving Talladega readers a snapshot of regional law enforcement activity.

• HBCUs Receive an Additional $174M in Federal Investment (urbangeekz.com) — New federal HBCU funding means Talladega College is projected to receive about $1.5 million, part of a $174 million nationwide boost.
