JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin last week, part of a bevy of narcotics investigations that have been underway by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said detectives observed Aqureal Taylor conducting drug transactions from a vehicle in the 9000 Block of Parkway East in Birmingham on April 28.

Later, detectives initiated a traffic stop on that vehicle, and Taylor, who was a passenger in the vehicle, exited and took off running, Money said. Detectives were able to capture Taylor and take him into custody, after a search of Taylor revealed almost five grams of heroin, according to Money's report.
