Arrest Made In Center Point Pawn Shop Burglary

A suspect has been arrested in a burglary last week at Lee's Pawn Shop, where seven guns were stolen.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the April 11 burglary of a Center Point pawn shop. Devonte Lapeer Tubbs , 18, was taken into custody and charged after seven guns were stolen from the business.

Investigators have recovered three of seven guns that were stolen from Lee's Pawn Shop, according to David Agee of the JCSO. Tubbs is charged with Burglary 3rd and three counts of Theft of Property 2nd degree with a $15,000 bond on each charge.

Reports say the suspect broke into the rear of the old Nationwide Insurance business, which is next door, and used a chainsaw to cut holes through the walls and gain entry to the business.

The burglary was the 11th at Lee's Pawn Shop in just two years, which has prompted the owner of the business to relocate to Oneonta.

Lee's Pawn Shop is the only remaining business in the shopping center on Center Point Parkway and 21st Avenue Northeast. Once it moves out, the shopping center will be empty.
