Alabama HS Football Poll: Center Point Moves Into 5A Top 10

CENTER POINT, AL — While most of the area teams stayed put in the most recent Alabama Sports Writers Association football poll - Hewitt-Trussville, Pinson Halley and Clay-Chalkville kept their rankings from last week - Center Point High School entered the 5A top 10 for the first time.

The Eagles defeated Mortimer Jordan last week 28-21, and moved into the top 10, at no. 10 this week. Center Point is 2-1 with its lone loss coming to 7A Mountain Brook. The Eagles play Munford this week.

After a 50-33 win over Oak Mountain last week, Hewitt-Trussville stayed at no. 5 in the 7A poll, which saw last week's no. 1 team, Hoover, fall to 4th after the Bucs lost to Thompson. Thompson replaced Hoover at the top spot in 7A. The Huskies will face Hoover Friday.

Pinson Valley remained at no. 2 in the 6A poll after the Indians beat Shades Valley 23-7 last week. The defending 6A champs will face off aganist cross-town rival Clay-Chalkville this week. The Cougars defeated Park Crossing 19-14 last week and kept their no. 4 Class 6A ranking.

Clay-Chalkville also received one first-place vote this week.
