Bo Nix Named Alabama's Mr. Football For 2018

The Alabama Sports Writers Association named Pinson Valley quarterback Bo Nix as the 2018 Mr. Football for the state.

PINSON, AL - Pinson Valley High School signal caller Bo Nix can add another trophy to his massive collection, as he was named Mr. Football for 2018 by the Alabama Sports Writers Association this week. Nix led the Indians to two consecutive state championships.

Nix finished his career at Pinson Valley as the AHSAA all-time leader in total offense (12,497 yards) and touchdowns accounted for (161). As a senior, Nix completed 267 of 447 passes for 3,795 yards and 50 touchdowns. He was also named championship game MVP after accounting for 372 yards and three touchdowns in its 6A title defense against Saraland.

The Auburn commit was named a first team All-American by USA Today, a second team All-America by MaxPreps (second team), the Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year, and he played in he Under Armour All-America Game and the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.

Nix is the first player from PVHS to win the Mr. Football award, and the first Birmingham-area winner since Huffman’s Andre Smith in 2005. The honor has been awarded since 1982, with nine former winners going on to play in the National Football League.

Nix enrolled at Auburn in December and started classes this month.
