Car Theft Suspect Arrested In Center Point: Sheriff

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with theft after law enforcement says he tried to steal a car from a gas station. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested Daxton Elliot Keith Thursday.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred Thursday morning at the Bama Gas Station on Center Point Parkway. Money said Keith was seen entering a vehicle that was at a gas pump. When the owner of the vehicle approached Keith, Money said, Keith fled the scene.

When deputies arrived on scene, they were able to track the suspect to a nearby neighborhood, Money said.

Keith is being held at Jefferson County Jail on $15,000 bond.
