Carjacking In Center Point Leads To Shooting
Tge Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred as the result of a carjacking in Center Point.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a reported carjacking that resulted in one person being shot Tuesday night.
Deputies responded to a report at approximately 9 p.m. of a carjacking and shooting in the 2000 block of 4th Street NE in Center Point. The adult male victim initially told deputies that he had been carjacked and that the suspect had shot him.
When questioned by detectives, the victim altered his story. He told detectives that he had come to the apartment complex to meet a friend known only to him as “Smoke." He parked his car and went looking for his friend. He returned to his car and found "Smoke" sitting in it. The victim reported that "Smoke" shot him and then drove off with his car. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
