Carjacking In Trussville Results In Police Chase
A woman was carjacked at gunpoint overnight in Trussville and an officer was injured in a subsequent chase with the suspects.
TRUSSVILLE, AL - A woman was carjacked at gunpoint in Trussville just after midnight Sunday, resulting in a police chase that left an officer injured. The incident occurred in the 6200 block of Kestral View Road.
A report by Alabama Media Group said three black males, armed with a pistol, reportedly robbed a female of her vehicle. A lookout bulletin was issued and officers a short time later spotted the suspect vehicle traveling on Edwards Lake Road.
The officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver refused, and a chase was initiated. During the pursuit, one of the Trussville patrol cruisers crashed and burst into flames in the area of Brewster Road. The officer was able to exit the vehicle and was taken to UAB Hospital where he was admitted overnight as a safety precaution to monitor for internal bleeding.

A police report said the stolen vehicle was located in the 600 block of Earline Circle. Witnesses told police that two suspects, one wearing a white hoodie and the other a red shirt, bailed from the vehicle and ran into the woods. The vehicle was recovered and will be processed for evidence.
The suspects are still at large.
