BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Center Point man convicted of producing child pornography has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. Dennis James Hudson Jr., 28, was indicted last year on nearly a dozen charges alleging he induced 10 different children to perform sex acts for his pornography production.

Northern District of Alabama U.S. Attorney Jay Town and FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp Jr. announced Friday morning that Hudson — who is also known as D.J. Zygi Hudson, Zygi Hudson, Tyler Johnson and Brandon McDaniels — was sentenced on five counts of producing child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography. Hudson pleaded guilty in January 2019 for persuading persons under the age of 18 to engage in sexually explicit conduct and transmit images of that conduct over the internet, and to distributing child pornography using the internet and a file-sharing website.

"A long prison sentence is well-deserved for this defendant," Town said in a statement. "We commend the FBI and ALEA for their work to diligently monitor the internet using every available resource to catch yet another child predator. He will now spend the next 50 years gazing at prison bars instead of a computer screen."

Hudson was one of 31 in 2016 people arrested in an investigationinto sexual exploitation of children in Alabama and Georgia, according to an Alabama Media Group report. Many of those suspects were arrested in Alabama, including Hudson.

Hudson was arrested again in 2017 by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency on a new charge of producing pornography with a minor. According to charging documents in that case, Hudson did "willfully and knowingly film, print, record, photograph or otherwise produce an obscene matter, to wit: a digital image of breasts and/or vagina, that contains a visual depiction of a person under the age of 17 years engaged in an act of sad-masochistic abuse, sexual intercourse, sexual excitement, masturbation, breast nudity, genital nudity or other sexual conduct."
