CENTER POINT, AL — Firefighters are required to wear several hats, so to speak - fighting fires, helping vehicle crash victims, caring for sick or injured people - but not many firefighters can say they also have delivered a baby. Two Center Point firefighters can now add that to their list of accomplishments on duty.

Karoline Nila Beard was born August 13, weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz., and was born at the Center Point Fire Department. Her father, Jonathan Beard of Blount County, posted on Facebook that he and his wife rushed into the fire department because they knew they would not be able to make it to the hospital in time.

"Karoline Nila Beard will always have a story to tell about her birth," Beard said vis Facebook. "At 2:38, she was born at Center Point Fire Department. We couldn't make it any further. Mom and baby are doing great."
