Center Point, Hewitt-Trussville Players In Recruiting Top 20

In the 24/7 Sports Top 20 football recruiting list in Alabama, some local players are among the best in the state.

TRUSSVILLE, AL — High school football season begins for most schools in the state this coming weekend, and eyes will be focused on several star players who are among the top college recruits in Alabama. Many of those are playing in the Trussville area.

According to recruiting website 24/7 Sports, three Hewitt-Trussville players and one Center Point High School player are among the top 20 football recruits in the state.

Hewitt-Trussville's Malachi Moore, the top defensive back in Alabama, is ranked no. 3 on the 24/7 list. The safety has committed to the University of Alabama, and has been recruited by every SEC team thus far.

Another Husky, speedy wide receiver Dazelin Worsham, is listed as the no. 13 recruit in the state. Worsham originally committed to Alabama, but re-opened his recruiting and is said to be leaning toward the University of Miami.

Hewitt-Trussville defensive tackle Eric Taylor is listed as the no. 16 recruit in Alabama. Taylot has committed to LSU for next season.

Center Point High School's Jayson Jones is listed as the no. 20 recruit in Alabama. The 5-foot-10 wide receiver is being recruited by several schools, including Kentucky, Ole Miss and LSU. Jones has not made a commitment to a school yet.

HTHS opens its season against defending 6A champion Pinson Valley this weekend, while Center Point opens its season in Philadelphia, Miss., August 23.
