Center Point High School Burglary Suspect Arrested

A tip called into Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of the man suspected of burglarizing Center Point High School.

CENTER POINT, AL - A tip called into Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of a man suspected of burglarizing Center Point High School February 16. School administrators were able to provide good video and photos of the offender to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and those images were sent out on Crime Stoppers and other law enforcement outlets. Someone recognized the offender and called to give his name over the weekend.

Sheriff’s detectives located the subject and developed supporting evidence against him. The man is identified as 20-year-old Vernard Johnson, Jr. Deputies and detectives were able to recover some of the stolen items.

Johnson is currently in jail on bonds totaling $55,000. Charges include Theft of Property 1st degree, Burglary 3rd degree and Theft of Property 3rd degree.
