Center Point Looks To Increase Tax Revenue
The Center Point City Council has hired a consultant to help boost the city's tax revenue.

CENTER POINT, AL - The City of Center Point is looking into ways it can increase tax revenue, and has hired a consultant to help them reach their revenue goals. The Center Point City Council last week entered into an agreement with Avenu Insights and Analytics to look into sales tax information and buying data to study in order to ensure that a city retains revenue.
A report by the Trussville Tribune said the agreement allows Avenue Insights to identify businesses that have “escaped” paying for business licenses by using the date found in their analysis. The contract with Avenu was approved for one year, although the contract could be extended if the council chooses.

During a pre-council meeting, the subject of an Economic Development Specialist was brought up, another plan that could help bring in revenue for the city. The position would involve, among other duties recruiting new businesses to Center Point, along with "implementing a business incubator and informing the council on community programs while representing the views of the city."
