Center Point Upsets Homewood, Stays In Top 10

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Alabama Sports Writers Association weekly football polls show little change for Trussville-area teams, but that was somewhat unexpected this week. Center Point, which came into last week's game against 6A power Homewood, pulled off an upset to remain at no. 8.

The Eagles converted a two-point conversion in the game’s final minute to seal a 22-21 victory over Homewood at Waldrop Stadium on Friday. It is the first time that the Eagles have defeated the Patriots since the high school reopened its doors in 2011.

Center Point plays Springville this week.

Hewitt-Trussville stayed in the top 10 after beating Huffman 34-21. The Huskies will go back to regional play against Vestavia Hills Friday night.

Pinson Valley stayed at 5th after an off week, and faces undefeated Gardendale Friday.
