Child Accidentally Shot In Pinson

An 11-year-old child was transported to Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a gun accidentally discharged.

PINSON, AL - An 11-year-old child has been taken to Children's Hospital after a gun in the child's home discharged and struck the child. The child is expected to make a full recovery.

Just after midnight, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a child was accidentally shot in the 8500 block of Taylor Drive in Pinson. Reports say a family member had a weapon in a case that fell. When the case hit the ground, the weapon inside the case discharged striking the child in the arm.

Investigators said the evidence is consistent with an accidental discharge. The child was treated on the scene by paramedics from Palmerdale and Center Point fire departments, then transported to Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
