Child Dies From Exposure To Methadone: Grandmother Jailed
A woman has been charged after her 19-month-old grandson died from an overdose of methadone while in her care.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A woman has been charged in the death of her grandson, after an extensive investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Michelle Lee Light, 44, has been charged with chemical endangerment of a child resulting in death.
Journey Dorman, only 19 months old, was left in the care of Light, his grandmother, on July 21, 2018, according to a report from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. While in Light's care at her Sylvan Springs home, the child reportedly was exposed to methadone, a controlled substance.
"When the child was clearly ill Michelle Light never informed medical personnel that it was possible that the child had ingested this substance," said JCSO spokesman David Agee. "Journey Dorman suffered a tragic death due to the recklessness of the person who was supposed to protect him from danger."
