Child Killed In Turkey Hunting Incident

An 11-year-old boy was shot and killed while turkey hunting over the weekend.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — An 11-year-old child is dead after a shooting incident during a turkey hunting excursion with his father, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred Friday just after 9 a.m. near Cedar Mountain Road.

Sgt. Joni Money of the sheriff's office said the boy was hunting with his father and another group when the shooting occurred, and medical personnel pronounced the child dead on the scene after attempts at reviving him were unsuccessful.

Money said the incident is still under investigation.
