Dispute Between Store Clerk And Customer Leads To Serious Injury

Witnesses stated that a store clerk followed a customer to the parking lot of a store and the customer used her vehicle to hit the clerk.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A dispute between a store clerk and a customer at a Jefferson County convenience store led to serious injuries Monday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 2:30 p.m.

Deputy Chief David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a customer at the Marathon gas station in the 1000 block of highway 78 called 911 to report that the store clerk had been injured. When deputies arrived, they reportedly found a man injured and down in the parking lot.

Witnesses told deputies that the man was the store clerk and that he had been in a dispute with a black female customer who appeared to be in her 20s. Witnesses stated that the store clerk followed the customer to the parking lot and the customer used her vehicle to hit the clerk.

The clerk was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The suspect is driving a gray Dodge Charger. Evidence technicians are retrieving video surveillance from the store.
