Eagles, Indians, Cougars Reach State Quarterfinals

Pinson Valley, Clay-Chalkville and Center Point each advanced in the AHSAA state playoffs.

TRUSSVILLE, AL — There are just eight teams left in the Alabama High School Athletics Association 6A and 5A football playoffs, and both Pinson Vlley and Clay-Chalkville remain in the 6A playoff bracket, while Center Point is one of the final eight remaining in 5A.

Pinson Valley rolled over Fort Payne 48-10 Friday night, racking up nearly 600 yards of total offense. The Indians will face Muscle Shoals this week in the quarterfinals, with the winner moving on to face either Oxford of Clay-Chalkville.

The Cougars moved into the final 8 bracket by beating Athens 35-7. Clay-Chalkville now faces Oxford, who the Cougars beat 26-21 in October.

Center Point defeated Scottsboro 26-10, this past Friday and now look at a quarterfinal game against Mortimer Jordan. The Eagles beat Mortimer Jordan 28-21 Sept. 6. The winner of this game will move on to the semifinals against the winner of the Madison County v. Clay Central game.
