Fire Temporarily Shuts Down I-59 in Trussville

A vehicle fire temporarily shut down Interstate 59 Northbound in Trussville Wednesday.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - A vehicle fire near the 140 mile marker south of the Chalkville Road exit in the I-59 northbound lane temporarily shut down the interstate Wednesday afternoon.

According to a report by the Trussville Tribune, a truck hauling vehicles caught on fire, and the Trussville Fire Department had to shut down traffic briefly to get trucks in position. The fire reportedly started in the engine compartment of the vehicle, and damaged the truck. The vehicles being hauled sustained minor damage, but there were no injuries, according to the report.

The interstate was re-opened approximately 10 minutes after the TFD arrived and extinguished the blaze.
