Hewitt-Trussville Girls, Pinson Boys Headed To Championship Games

The Huskies defeated Auburn 48-45 in the AHSAA basketball semifinals to head to their first championship game in school history.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - As most schools are starting baseball and softball season, Pinson Valley and Hewitt-Trussville are still playing basketball. The Hewitt-Trussville High School girls basketball team is headed to the state finals after a gritty 48-45 win over Auburn High School at the BJCC Legacy Arena in Birmingham Thursday. The Huskies will play in the championship Saturday for the first time in program history.

Pinson Valley won their semifinal game 54-51 over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa on Wednesday. Pinson Valley’s top scorers were GaQuincy McKinstry with 18 points, Kam Woods with 13 points, Marques McCoico with 11 points and Geordan Pollard with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Amiya Payne led the Huskies with 16 points, and the Huskies pulled down an impressive 38 rebounds in their game.
