Hewitt-Trussville, Pinson Valley Ranked No. 2 In ASWA Polls
Pinson Valley has been inching back up the 6A rankings after its Week 1 loss, and land at No. 2 in this week's rankings.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - Hewitt-Trussville and Pinson Valley each found themselves in a similar spot this week. The Huskies and Indians were each ranked No. 2 in this week's Alabama Sports Writers Association polls. The Huskies remained at the second spot for a second consecutive week and received four first-place votes, while Pinson Valley has been inching back up the polls following a Week 1 loss while ranked No. 1 to start the season. The Indians also received four first-place votes.
The Huskies demolished regional foe Spain Park last week 44-13, as the team keeps racking up huge offensive stats. Quarterback Paul Tyson hit 14-of-19 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns. Fellow Alabama commit Dazalin Worsham caught TDs of 7 and 37 yards and Auburn commit Ja'Varrius Johnson’s 46-yard scoring reception gave Hewitt-Trussville a 21-6 halftime lead. It was all Huskies from there.
Pinson Valley used a stifling defense en route to a 28-13 upset of then-second ranked Oxford. The Indians held Oxford to only 206 total yards, including only 49 yards passing. Senior signal-caller Bo Nix, who struggled early in the game, threw touchdown passes of 4 yards to GaQuincy McKinstry and 52 yards to Keyonteze Johnson, and also ran 4 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter with 5:04 remaining after Oxford had closed to within a touchdown.
