Huskies Climb To No. 2 In ASWA Rankings

Hewitt-Trussville's win over top-ranked Hoover over the weekend propelled the Huskies to second in the state.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - Winning has its rewards, as the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies have learned after their impressive 52-24 win over then-top-ranked Hoover Friday night. The victory propelled the Huskies to the No. 2 ranking in the Alabama Sports Writers Association 7A rankings.

Hoover, which started the season at No. 1, fell to No. 2 after a loss to St. John's (Washington, DC), but had regained the top spot after defeating Thompson. Now, for the third time in three weeks, a new No. 1 has been named by the ASWA. Central-Phenix City claims the No. 1 rankign this week, with Hewitt-Trussville ranked second. Hoover fell to fifth.

In 6A rankings, Pinson Valley's 28-21 win over Clay-Chalkville placed the Indians at No. 3 in the ASWA poll. Pinson Valley received three first-place votes. Clay-Chalkville fell from No. 4 to No. 6.
