Huskies To Face Bob Jones In Baseball Semifinals

Hewitt-Trussville advanced to the AHSAA semifinals after sweeping James Clemens.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - The Hewitt-Trussville High School baseball team is not done yet. The Huskies swept James Clemens High School in quarterfinal action over the weekend to advance to the state semifinals. The Huskies will face Bob Jones in a best-of-three series this week.

Hewitt-Trussville rode the arm and bat of star pitcher Carson Skipper in the quarterfinals. Skipper was the winning pitcher in Game One, and hit a grand slam in Game Two as the Huskies advanced to the semifinals for the second time in three years.

The Huskies relied on strong pitching and defense, as they have all season, but also got some offensive production from Skipper, Tyler Maildin and Ed Johnson. Pitcher Michael Powler tossed a complete game shutout in the second and decisive game.
