Huskies Fall Short Of State Baseball Title

Hewitt-Trussville lost a heartbreaking championship game to Auburn High School.

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Hewitt-Trussville baseball team's magical run is over. The Huskies came just short of winning their second state baseball championship in three years, as they fell to Auburn 1-0 in Game 2 of the state championship series.

Hewitt-Trussville dropped Game 1 to Auburn 4-1. But dropping Game 1 was not a problem when the Huskies started this run, as they faced off against top-ranked defending state champion Hoover. But this time, it was not meant to be.

Auburn's senior lefty Drew Jennings made sure there would not be a Game 3, as he tossed a complete game shutout in Game 2 at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
