Huskies Safety Commits To Mississippi State
Hewitt-Trussville defensive back Myles Mason has committed to Mississippi State.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - Hewitt-Trussville High School senior Myles Mason announced this week he will play for the Mississippi State Bulldogs next year. The 6'2", 205 pound safety who transferred to Hewitt-Trussville this season from Pleasant Grove, had received offers from Alabama, Auburn. Florida State, Tennessee, LSU and Western Kentucky.
Mason has 17 tackles and a pass breakup in three games this season. He has also run for 174 yards and four touchdowns. He has battled a leg injury this year, which has limited his playing time. He is listed as a 4-star recruit by 247Sports, and Huskies coach Josh Floyd told the recruiting website Mason can play a variety of positions.
"Most like him as a strong safety type of player that can roll up in the box," Floyd told 247Sports. "But I don't think offense is out of the question because he's a good receiver and running back, too. So it just depends on what a school needs or wants. For us, he's a guy that we can't keep off the field. He works extremely hard and his work ethic spreads to the younger guys. He's not a vocal guy and that's not his personality. But the younger guys see him working. And Myles is a guy that puts in a lot of time on his own and works all the time when practice is over."
