Huskies' Season Ends, Indians And Cougers Still Alive
Hewitt-Trussville's quest for a state championship ended with a loss to Thompson Friday night in the quarterfinals.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - A season that saw records fall at Hewitt-Trussville has come to an end, as the Huskies fell Friday night to Thompson 37-13. However, Pinson Valley and CLay-Chalkville kept their seasons alive as the Indians defeated Muscle Shoals 45-21 and the Cougars beat previously undefeated Hartselle 41-7.
Pinson Valley roared back after falling behind in the third quarter, with quarterback Bo Nix leading the way, with 370 yards passing, four touchdowns and an interception. Pinson Valley takes on Homewood Friday night.
The Cougars (11-1) will host No. 8 Oxford (10-2) on Nov. 23 in the Class 6A Quarterfinals for the second-straight year. It will be the 15th all-time meeting between the two schools with CCHS holding a 10-4 lead in the series.

Both teams, if they win, will face each other in the semifinals for the second straight year. Clay-Chalkville had a 10-game winning streak against Pinson Valley until 2016's 21-14 overtime loss to the Indians, and last season's 34-32 loss in September. Pinson Valley beat the Cougars 37-7 in the semifinals last season.

Hewitt-Trussville lost to Thompson for the second time this season, dropping the Huskies to 8-4 on the season. Huskies quarterback Paul Tyson, who has committed to Alabama for next season, finished his season with 3,012 yards, 31 touchdown passes and just six interceptions. For Tyson's HTHS career, he amassed 6,404 yards passing and a school-record 67 passing TDs.
