Huskies Tyson, Quick and Mason Honored By USA Today

Huskies QB Paul Tyson was one of three HTHS players named to USA Today's All-Alabama Team for the 2017 football season.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - Although the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies fell short of winning the Alabama 7A state championship in 2017, several of the school's players have received accolades for the impressive season the team had. In fact, three Huskies were named in USA Today's All-Alabama Team for the season.

Huskies OL Pierce Quick earned first team honors on offense while DB Myles Mason earned first team honors on defense. Junior signal-caller Paul Tyson was named to the second team offense. Several Hewitt-Trussville players were named to the Alabama Sportswriters Association 7A All-State Team, but the USA Today list combines all levels of the state's high schools for one list, which makes the number of Hewitt-Trussville players on the team an indicator of just how successful the team has become.

Mason, a senior in 2017, is a Mississippi State commit who has been one of the best defensive players in the state for years. Quick and Tyson were juniors this season which means they return for the 2018 season. Both have received multiple offers from colleges across the country. Quick has already committed to the University of Alabama, while Tyson has not made his decision yet, having been offered scholarships from almost all of the schools in the Southeastern Conference, Notre Dame, USC, Louisville, Duke and others. Tyson, who is the great-grandson of legendary Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, received his offer from the Crimson Tide in December.
