Huskies Upset Top-Ranked Hoover, Advance In Playoffs
The Hewitt-Trussville baseball team defeated the defensing state champion Hoover Bucs in a three game series to advance in the playoffs.

HOOVER, AL - The Hewitt-Trussville High School baseball team pulled a huge upset over the weekend, defeating the top-ranked Hoover Bucs in a best-of-three series at Hoover.
The Huskies beat Hoover 7-3 in the third and deciding game Saturday, getting ahead of the Bucs early wit two runs on the first inning, thanks to a triple and score by Carson Skipper. Tyler Mauldin had three RBI in the game to propel the Huskies to Round 2 of the AHSAA tournament.
A strong pitching performance by Ed Johnson and some excellent defensive play by Hewitt-Trussville made the difference.

The Huskies lost the first game of the series, but evened it in Game 2 with an 8-1 win on the back of a huge 13-strikeout performance on the mound by Skipper.
The Huskies will host James Clemens in Round 2, after James Clemens swpet Mountain Brook Friday night. Game 1 of the three game series will be May 4 at 5 p.m.
